IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BOOKING A SAFARI IN THE KRUGER PARK
- There are almost 200 safari lodges in and around the Kruger Park and most of these are of an international standard. However, we suggest that you make sure that the one you pick is graded with the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. This will ensure that you get the desired standard of accommodation that you prefer.
- The Kruger Park is surrounded by smaller private game reserves, that all offer similar safari conditions. Most of these private reserves are quite expensive (some more than US$ 1000 per person per night), however there are just as many 4 star lodges that are much more value for money.
- All the Safaris in this proposal are based at 4 star lodges and are sure to give visitors the maximum opportunity to experience the best that the Kruger Park has to offer.
- Should you wish to get more information on 5 star safari lodges please feel free to contact us for a detailed proposal on different options available.
- All our safari packages include return vehicle transfers from Johannesburg and the return journey travels via the Panorama Route, which include visits to Gods Window, Pilgrims Rest, a waterfall and the town of Dullstroom.
KRUGER PARK CONSERVATION FEES The Kruger Park is one of South Africas National Parks and therefore a Government Conservation Fee is charged for each person entering any of the national parks. There are 21 National Parks in South Africa including Kruger Park, Table Mountain and Cape Point and we suggest visitors purchase a Wild Card that allows you unlimited access to any of the 21 National Parks at a discounted rate. You will note that we have included the Conservation fees only until 31 October 2006. The reasoning behind this is that clients can purchase Wild Cards that will better suit their own requirements and therefore save money, by paying less in conservation fees. We can also purchase Wild Cards on your behalf and include this in your Safari Package, should you prefer this.

KRUGER PARK FACT SHEET
- The Kruger National Park is one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world and offers the perfect opportunity for visitors to experience the excitement and adventure that Africa has to offer.
- Bear in mind that the Park is 4-5 hours drive from Johannesburg and if you fly, it will take 1 hour from Johannesburg and 2 hours from Cape Town. We recommend a minimum stay of 3 to 4 days.
- The Park is situated in the northeastern part of South Africa and is a vast stretch of land over 400 km from north to south and average 80 km from east to west.
- The southern part of the Kruger Park is more lush with vegetation and has a much higher rainfall than the more arid northern parts.
- Visits to the Kruger Park during the summer or winter both have their benefits. During the summer months, from November to February the vegetation is more lush and the landscape spectacular. Most animals bear their young during this time and often congregate in open areas, which make them easier to spot. During the winter, from April to August there is less water and animals seem to spend more time at waterholes and rivers. The vegetation is less dense and this makes predicting where animals will be a bit easier.
- The Park is home to more than 500 birds species and 147 mammals including the famous Big 5
- The Kruger Park is home to more than 10,000 Elephant, 2,000 Lion and 150,000 Impala Antelope.
- There are several restcamps in the Park, where visitors could spend some time at one of the restaurants or shopping at the general store.
- Skukuza, the main camp of the park boasts an impressive library and museum.
- Over 1,5 million people visited the Greater Kruger Park area in 2004
- The Kruger Park is a low risk Malaria area, however we recommend that precautions be taken.
- Dont forget to bring a hat, warm jacket, raincoat, sunscreen, insect repellent, swimsuit, camera, spare film and binoculars.
Your support of conservation and the environment is greatly appreciated!
